Not every child will misuse drugs, but you can be sure that every child living in the UK today will be exposed to the influences that could lead to drug including alcohol misuse.

Can any parent really 'drug proof' their child and be sure they will never misuse drugs? Of course there are no guarantees, but members of the DPYK north devon team believe that a parent is the single most important influence on a child's life and there is a huge amount that we can do to give our kids the best possible chance of avoiding the harmful use of drugs.

How to Drug Proof Your Kids^® (DPYK) is a six-session drug and alcohol education programme for parents which seeks to come alongside them to support and equip them with all they need to steer their kids away from the very real and present danger of drug and alcohol misuse.
 

DPYK aims to help parents:

• Become better informed about drugs (including illicit drugs, alcohol, tobacco and prescription medications) - how bad drug misuse is, what the drugs look like, why and how they are used
• Learn how to communicate effectively with their children about drugs
• Develop plans to use at home to help their children make good informed choices
• Benefit from the support & experience of other parents and be encouraged by the fact that they are not alone
